Nada Absolutamente Nada

Dias & Riedweg Artist Residency required the creation of an unprecedented partnership between the artists, a cultural institution, a federal mental health hospital, and patients within Brazil’s public healthcare system. The challenge was not only to develop a collaborative artwork, but also to establish the institutional, legal, and operational conditions necessary for multiple organizations to work together within a sensitive and complex co-creation process.

The project involved stakeholder engagement, governance design, interest alignment, and the structuring of collaboration between Casa Daros, IPUB-UFRJ, and the collective A Voz dos Usuários.

As Project Manager, I was responsible for coordinating the initiative and ensuring its successful implementation, demonstrating how design can serve as a tool for mediation between institutions, systems, and communities.

The artwork resulting from the residency is now part of the digital collection of the Museo Reina Sofía.

What does it take to create the conditions for genuine co-creation?
