Leroy Merlin Design Award
The 1st Instituto Tomie Ohtake–Leroy Merlin Design Award was created to showcase how design can address contemporary challenges beyond traditional objects and products. Under the theme “Sharing,” the award invited students and recent graduates from diverse disciplines to develop solutions related to social, urban, environmental, and technological issues. Rather than organizing submissions into predefined categories, the initiative adopted an interdisciplinary approach, encouraging projects that connected design, technology, sustainability, and social impact.
The result was a platform that gave visibility to emerging talent while demonstrating the potential of design as a tool for tackling complex societal challenges and generating innovative responses to contemporary issues.
As Project Manager (Executive Producer), I coordinated partnerships with universities, the sponsor, and external service providers, overseeing the operational and stakeholder management aspects of the initiative.
How can design create value beyond products and services?
